Power, control, greed, freedom, beauty and desire: these are the fundamental qualities found in our tumultuous times. As an artist, I wanted to take the most destructive man made objects and focus on the purity of form. I wanted to connect the world of wars and killing machines with the peace-loving world of ceramics. This idea can be connected to the counter culture of the past but it’s still relavant today. In ceramics you create but in warfare you destroy. I wanted to comment on the dissonance between the two while acknowledging our attraction to both worlds.
